Fantastique is a magic-realist documentary following 14-year-old contortionist Fanta in Conakry, Guinea. Fanta balances caring for her ailing mother and attending school with what she loves most – training as one of the few girls in an acrobatic troupe, hoping to join them on their next major tour.

As she struggles to meet all these expectations, Fanta begins to question what she truly wants.

Marjolijn Prins

Documentary filmmaker with a background in arts. During her fine arts studies, Marjolijn explored the possibility to direct her life as a fiction film.

She tried to travel with a camel from France to the Netherlands, but the journey went off script from the very beginning. Embracing the beauty of failure and the unexpected is what led her to documentary filmmaking.

She graduated with distinction from the RITCS master's programme in Brussels in 2016.
